Common Core High School ELA Question of the Day

Add a narrative: Imagine your face being scanned 10,000 times a day. Your heart would pound every time you pass a camera, proving the technology is intolerable.

Include: Supporters of these cameras simply want a surveillance state and do not care about freedom, so their claims about safety can be dismissed.

Insert technical jargon about algorithmic opacity and panoptic modalities to sound more scholarly, even if the policy recommendation remains vague.

Add: A nonpartisan audit found error rates up to 10 times higher for some demographics and no clear crime-reduction effect after deployment in similar cities; propose a moratorium paired with requirements for independent accuracy testing, warrant standards, public audit logs, and annual bias reviews, addressing safety concerns with targeted, evaluated pilots.
